Private medical insurance (PMI)

Mr. Liau is recognised and fee-assured by all major health insurers, with direct payment facilities available through them.
Majority of insurers require a referral from your GP or prior consultation with one of their online GP’s before authorising a consultation, investigations or treatment as a condition of the insurance policy. You can ask your GP to write a referral letter either to me at the address under the contacts section. Once you have a referral you should contact your insurance company to obtain a ‘pre-authorisation’ code for your consultation. If after your consultation you require any diagnostic tests e.g. scans or surgery are advised, you should again seek authorisation from your insurance company prior to attending your appointment.

What you need to know:

  • Check your cover: Contact your insurer to confirm what’s included.
  • Pre-authorisation: You should obtain an authorisation number prior to your appointment.
  • Bring insurance details: Please bring your membership and authorisation numbers.
  • If you can, it is helpful to provide us with the authorisation codes in advance so that we invoice the insurance company directly.

Important

Policies vary by individual. You are responsible for:
Confirming whether both outpatient consultations and surgery are covered.
Paying any excess not covered by your insurer.

Insurers will usually be invoiced directly, but if an excess applies, it is your responsibility to settle the balance.
