Patient testimonials
I saw Mr Liau in clinic together with my wife before the suggested surgery where he explained to us the diagnostic findings, the procedures available and his recommendation for the type of surgery. He also offered me an alternative to surgery via oncology should I wish a further consultation. Mr Liau was clear in his explanations of surgery and the expected outcomes both positive and negative. Mr Liau and his team were good at communicating and arranging pre and post surgery tests, and visiting me while I was both on a ward and on a virtual ward as a patient. He and his team followed me up post surgery and answered my questions patiently. The surgery he and his theatre team carried out used robotic surgery which worked well to reduce my time in hospital and reduced recovery time. A good outcome. I can not suggest any improvements as the degree of professional care was excellent, both from Mr Liau personally and his clinical team. Thank you.

Mr Siong Seng Liau is in my opinion the best Consultant / Surgeon I will ever meet his caring attitude is first rate and so is his team at Addenbrooks Hospital. not only after my surgery and while I was still in Hospital even now 2 years after he has still got that caring side and wants to know how I am doing. I can only thank him and his team from the bottom of my heart for their excellent expertise in saving my life and giving me a few extra years with my family. One thing I would love the NHS do is provide more good people to staff the wards at a level that I found on Ward M4 my hat goes out to them all. May Their God be with them always.

I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer 5 years ago. As a GP with 35 years of clinical experience I was aware of all the potential problems and unfavourable likely outcome. Mr Liau listened to my concerns and made every effort to allay them. He took the trouble to phone me personally on New Years Eve to say he had a cancellation for 2 Jan and operated on me then. He and his whole department provided first class care throughout my hospital spell, and he went way beyond the call of duty often checking on me late in the evening and providing me with details of a recent NEJM article on post operative Chemotherapy which proved sucessful. My wife will always be in his debt for the way he phoned her late at night, obviously exhausted at the end of a long and difficult proceedure, to reasure her that the operation had been a sucess.
- NHS patient at Addenbrooke's Hospital
I attended Addenbrooke’s Hospital in August 2022 for pancreatic surgery under the care of Mr Siong Seng Liau. His skill and expertise in carrying out the keyhole operation was excellent and even more so, was his genuine care, concern and attention during my recovery in hospital and during clinic consultations afterwards. He has a really human approach, explaining everything – good or bad – in a clear and empathetic way which inspires trust and confidence in the medical procedures and outcomes. I feel very lucky and thankful to have had Mr Liau as my Consultant and could not have wished for anyone better to carry out this major surgery. In fact his whole team of dedicated NHS staff, from Doctors, Specialist HPB Nurses to Admin were all a pleasure to deal with, an asset to Addenbrooke’s Hospital and a credit to the wonderful NHS.
